Projection Mapping

Jason Zulli has started an ongoing digital exhibition in 2014 called “tesseract”. As a artist he strives to display work about “Time, Space and Motion.” Tesseract is best defined as the four-dimensional analogue of a cube. See the recent post here about Tesseract.

Jason Zulli best describes tesseract as “Think of the space with which you are familiar. Put simply; think of the ways in which you can move. There is left to right, forwards and backwards. Finally there is up and down. Three ways, three dimensions. You can pinpoint your location by working out your coordinates in those three directions. If someone pushes you off a cliff (for whatever reasons) you would be moving forwards, downwards and, depending on the direction of their thrust, either to the left or right. You would be moving within three dimensions. When you go to the fourth dimension you have another direction. That direction is at right angles to each and every one of the three original directions.

Tesseract aims to give audiences a new awareness of presence and interactivity. His work has and will create a physical illusion of images using projection mapping and mobile devices. Audiences will mold the artwork as it unfolds in front of their eyes. The pieces will be shown at a large scale and will be experienced by everyone who passes by. “Imagine walking through the common area and seeing a number on the College Center Building. You text the number on your phone and a video brings the building to life. Multiply that by hundreds and you have a piece of work that is constantly changing,” Zulli says.

Zulli believes there is a great opportunity for students and the community to see more than traditional art and photography in galleries. “This proposal celebrates the spirit of NCC through an accessible digital arts festival and expands the possibilities for public art in the Lehigh Valley,” he says.

On this website you will find all of my previous work on projection mapping. I also keep a blog during the process.
